We were up early to get the last bits packed and check out of Animal Kingdom Lodge. As we leave very early for Tampa airport on our last day, we decided to make a full Polynesian day out of today. We took our cases to the lobby, checked out online, ordered a Lyft and checked into the Polynesian, and were there by around 9.30am. We always still go to the desk to let them know we’re at the resort even after checking in online. I don’t know if it makes a difference, but we’ve gotten rooms ready earlier than expected on most of our previous trips doing this so I’m sticking with it. Once we were checked in we headed to Captain Cook’s for a breakfast burrito for the girls (Polly said she’d been dreaming about them) before heading to the pool as it opened at 10am.

It was really quiet around the pool and the girls had a lovely time playing. At 11am I got a notification that our room was ready, so we got the cases delivered and debated heading to Magic Kingdom, but as the girls were having so much fun we decided to just stay at the resort. We had lunch around the pool and they played the pool games which lasted 2 hours and were really different to the ones at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

At 4pm we decided to head inside and get ready for our DVC Moonlight Magic event at Typhoon Lagoon. We were all quite tired and as we’d only done a water park a couple of days before, briefly considered giving it a miss. However, we decided that would be a shame so said we’d go for as long as we wanted and come home whenever we’d had enough.

Well, we ended up staying til 11pm! After a bit of faff getting there (we were told there’d be direct buses but then nobody knew where they’d be so eventually just got on a Disney Springs one and transferred) we arrived around 7.30pm. We headed straight for Crush n Gusher which we did twice as the sun was setting before heading to the wave pool.

We then went to meet Sebastian, had a complementary drink and ice cream, and had a dance with Goofy, Chip & Dale at the beach dance party (Goofy is apparently a Swiftie, but Dale definitely had the best moves!).

Winnie loved the dance party so much that she ended up staying there for the rest of the night with me (dancing in sand is a serious workout!) whilst Steve and Polly alternated between being with us and doing a few more slides/ waves. It was a lot of fun and we all really enjoyed the night.

As we were leaving, we met Goofy and the chipmunks again, before getting changed to head to the bus.

It took a while for the bus to set off but we were back by around 11.30. However, as we were heading to the room Winnie fell flat on her face. I rushed over to check on her, picked her up and promptly fell on top of her! In hindsight I was terrified of squishing her so did some sort of roll-fall manoeuvre and Winnie screamed out! I bet we woke pretty much the whole floor, which I think upset Winnie more than the actual fall! I’ve never stuffed us all inside our hotel room and shut the door so fast in my life!
Bruises and bumps sorted, the girls were asleep as soon as their heads hit the pillow. It was going to be a Magic Kingdom rope drop tomorrow, but as there’s nothing we desperately want to do I think we’ll just get up when we wake instead.
