Today we finally made it to Typhoon Lagoon. We jumped on one of the first buses (early morning they tend to go to Typhoon Lagoon first and then Disney Springs, whereas later in the day you have to transfer) and ended up there way earlier than we needed to be as we didn’t really need to set up camp anywhere. Still, with Animal Kingdom Lodge being so far from the water park, we’d decided it was better to be there as the next bus could have taken ages.

I am not the biggest water park fan (my skin only likes chlorine marginally more than sea water, and my body can’t take the bumps and knocks of mist of the slides), but the girls really wanted to go so I set out with the intention of doing what I could, then letting Steve take over whilst I had a sneaky bit of me-time to read.

We set up at the base of Crush n Gusher (the girls’ favourite) and we rode it together. The girls then rode a further 4 times without queuing which they loved. Next, was Miss Adventure Falls, which is a lot more fun now you ride to the top! I decided I’d been bumped around enough and didn’t want to risk putting myself out of action, so Steve and the girls went off to do the other slides before it got busy. They were done not long after 11, so I took the girls on the Lazy River which was less ‘lazy’ and more ‘sardine-like’ but they had fun swimming and using their underwater camera. They’ve had it years and we always forget to take the pictures off it from one holiday to the next, but it doesn’t stop them from enjoying it.

They then went into the wave pool with Steve while I read a bit. It was after lunch by now and we’d all had enough, so we grabbed a quick bite to eat as well as some hot doughnuts and set off back to the bus.

Winnie had been eyeing up a weighted Simba in Zawadi gift shop at the resort, but just as she decided to buy it, it disappeared (there was only one). She was a bit sad but came to the conclusion they must have moved him to be less lonely, and as she’d seen others at Disney Sorings, she thought he might be there. He apparently had a crusty bit on his hair and a cheeky face, so she said she’d know which one he was. Seeing as we had to take the bus to Springs, we went to World of Disney to check if he was there, and lo and behold, after a bit of checking for crustiness, she found him! We then walked back to the bus stop where a bus was waiting so it was smiles all round, albeit tired ones (it was nap central on the journey!!) so we decided to have a cool down in the room before deciding what else to do.

We did consider going to watch Joey Fatone again, but couldn’t face the trawl around Epcot, so decided instead to switch our Jiko meal from tomorrow. We had a bit of time in the pool before getting ready, and as always had the most beautiful meal there, although I didn’t get a look in with my wild boar starter as the girls ate it all!

The early night we’d planned didn’t quite go to plan as we realised that mousekeeping had taken half the sheets from the sofa bed when they serviced the room and we had to get more, but we still had a really lovely last night at this beautiful resort.

Despite their late night, the girls still wanted to get up and rope drop Animal Kingdom as they wanted to do Flight of Passage one more time this trip. I woke up at 6.30 and Steve shortly after (definitely not because I was accidentally kicking him!) and we decided not to wake the girls as they were flat out. We got ready just in case, and Polly actually woke around 7 with Winnie shortly afterwards. However, they were really tired and couldn’t decide whether they wanted to do the park or not. Around 7.15 they decided to go for it, and somehow we were on the 7.30 bus and in the park by 7.45.

As early morning hours started at 7.30 I thought we’d miss the quiet time, but Flight of Passage was still a very short queue so we did that and the safari really quickly.

I told Winnie she could take photos on my phone which she loved, but we ended up with almost 100 to sort through, most of which were of animals’ bums!

It was actually relatively cool, so we decided to do the Gorilla trail too, which was lovely as all the gorillas were out playing. Polly then asked to go on the rapids which had a short queue, so off we went.

The plan had always been to only go to the park for a few hours, so we decided to head back to the hotel. We managed to see the Russel and Dug float and catch Kevin on the way out, which was perfect timing.

Back at the hotel we all went down to the pool, but the girls both said their skin felt sore so they came inside for a rest from the heat and Steve joined them whilst I did a bit of work whilst sat in the sunshine.

We debated heading to a park, but instead decided to pack ready for our move tomorrow, and walk to Sanaa lounge for one final bread service.

Winnie followed it with a night swim while Polly and I watched Pitch Perfect 2. We’re off to stay at the Polynesian for the last party of our adventure tomorrow. This trip seems to have flown by but we can’t wait to finish it at one of our favourite resorts.
