We were up early at 6am for breakfast at 6.45 (we’d have skipped breakfast but the girls wanted to see their servers one more time) before leaving the ship and getting on the Disney bus to the resort. Winnie and Steve managed some sleep during the journey (I know, Steve sleeping is surprising) and Poly and I watched Encanto which was playing on the TV screens.

We arrived at Animal Kingdom Lodge around 10.30 and decided to head to Port Orleans to visit my parents and grab some lunch and beignets. We were just about to set off when I got a text saying that our room was ready, so we took our luggage up first. We are staying in a value DVC studio which is less points than a regular room because it’s slightly smaller, but after the cruise seems ginormous! We also got a pool view which we really like as the noise is minimal but we’re right by the stairs/ lift that go straight down to the bus stop.

We headed over to Port Orleans and met my parents as we’d obviously not seen them while we were on the ship. Winnie talked them through every photo we’d taken in detail while we had a bit of lunch and a lot of beignets before heading back to our hotel. Steve went to the supermarket to get some bits and bobs and we unpacked, before heading to the lobby to meet up with Jade, James and Arlo for a quick chat, which was lovely. We also saw the characters who randomly visit the resorts, although not the 100th characters the girls were hoping for.

We were so tired that we decided on a night in, so the girls and I walked to Sanaa to collect a bread service. After we’d eaten the girls had a swim while I ironed a few bits I’d rammed in the cases before the cruise, then it was shower and hair wash before an early night. We’re heading to Magic Kingdom tomorrow but will definitely not make rope drop as it opens at 7.30am and they (Steve included) need a lie in!
