The Pearsons Do Disney Easter 2023: Easter Sunday Funday

One of the reasons we have never been to Disney at Easter since the girls were tiny is because they absolutely love Easter at home. I mean, they really, really love it to the point that they are physically ill the night before because they get themselves so over excited! It’s up there with Christmas, and because they love it at home, they’ve never wanted to be away. However, we managed to convince them that the Easter Bunny wouldn’t mind coming to our house a week later once we were home, and they were really excited to experience Disney at Easter. They planned the activities they’d like to do (candy scramble and Easter lawn games at the resort then Easter parade at Magic Kingdom) and were really excited. They did get straight to sleep (I think the hellish heat watching Ant & Dec zapped them of any energy), but Polly woke at 3am and couldn’t get back to sleep. I ended up with her in bed with me, telling her stories about when she was little. It was really lovely, and she eventually decided she could fall asleep after about 30 minutes of stories. I didn’t get back to sleep, but it was worth it for a super snuggle with her.

Both girls woke about 7.30 and decided to check if the Easter Bunny had come. Luckily, he had, and he’d left them an Easter clue trail to solve around the resort where a letter from each answer spelled out a place he’d hidden an Easter treat for them. They absolutely loved running around solving the clues, which told them their treat was hidden under the bed. We then had about half an hour before the candy scramble on the lawn, so decided to get half ready to go to Magic Kingdom as although we’d originally planned to watch the later parade the weather was pretty ominous today and we were worried it might be cancelled, so wanted to be there for the 11.45 one which we knew would be a push as the games didn’t finish until 10.30. It worked really well, and the girls got to do the scramble (they got a ridiculous number of sweets and they probably had less than anyone else! Some children had 3 full bags full!) as well as all the lawn games which were Easter themed party games. They had such a good time and although the weather was grey and a little chilly, it was perfect for them as I don’t think they had another hot day in them.

As soon as the games finished, they got changed and we headed to the park. A bus arrived straight away so we were there earlier than expected giving Steve time for a much-needed coffee. It started to rain quite heavily but the weather app said it wouldn’t last so we kept everything crossed the parades would still take place, and luckily, they did. We loved the Easter parade. The floats are so cute, we loved the dancing hippos, ostriches, and chickens, and seeing the trolley dancers again was the icing on the cake. We miss them so much. Mr & Mrs Bunny were very cute together and the White Rabbit ran over to Polly for a hug.

Ten minutes after the parade finished, Festival of Fantasy started so we stayed out and watched that again too. Flynn Rider remembered Winnie, Wendy came over to chat again, and there was even a Donald hug!

We had time for a quick visit to the Country bears before our Liberty Tree Tavern reservation, which we decided would be as close to an Easter Sunday dinner as we’d get. We’d never been before as it’s not something that we’d ever fancy in the August heat, but we really enjoyed it and ate our body weight in pot roast! By the time we finished everyone was getting ready for the 3pm parade so we went on Jungle Cruise. The girls then did Swiss Family Treehouse (my knees can’t take all those steps) before we decided to call it a day and escape from the park before the parade reached the bottom of Main Street and trapped us.

It still wasn’t that warm, but the girls decided they’d like one last swim, so we went to the pool for an hour before it closed suddenly. We asked the girls if they knew why it closed and they said they had no idea, but they had seen something that looked like poo floating around!!! Although it was early, we were all shattered, so decided to head to the room, put a movie on and get packed ready for our resort move tomorrow whilst the girls are their body weight in Easter chocolate and treats. We could have packed really quickly as we’d done the ‘case inside a case’ trick coming out so had loads of room, but I decided to try and pack so that we only had to open one case for the last part of our trip which meant a bit of shuffling things around. Still, I’m hoping we reap the rewards when it comes to the last day when we’ll hopefully have very little to do.

Steve & Polly took a quick trip for some goodbye beignets whilst Winnie and I had a snuggle, we had a little dance to ‘Beyond the Sea’ at the end of Nemo, and we were all tucked up for an early night on what has been an absolutely lovely Easter Sunday. The end of the trip is coming around so fast now, but we are so lucky to have had such an amazing time together.
