After stating categorically that this was going to be a budget trip and that there would be no extras, I decided I couldn’t miss out the chance to see our lovely Fairy Godmothers at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, and today was the day of their appointment. We had planned on a Cheshire Cat outfit for Winnie the year Covid hit, so had all the fabric stashed away. Polly was originally going to be the Mad Hatter, but as I’d already made her that outfit once when she was little, she decided on the White Rabbit instead. I never assume the girls will want to dress up, and always leave it to them to let me know if they’d like something making, but they loved designing these themselves so I knew they’d be a winner.

Because you can never fully predict how long buses will take to arrive, and because we’d also got a Tron return time (which we suspected would clash with our appointment), we headed to the park for 8.45an. We did plan to ride People Mover, but it was down (again!) so we just grabbed a Starbucks and had a leisurely wander until our appointment time, taking a few photos along the way.

We did meet the Country Bears in Frontierland which Polly loved as she was wearing her dress with them on it.

I knew that Polly’s fairy godmother, the lovely Aimee, was going to be looking after her but I kept it a surprise, so when the girls walked in to check in and saw her, they were so excited. We waited to be called through and then their outfits were laid out in the changing room for them to change into after watching the special magic mirror message.

I honestly don’t think you miss out on anything by taking your own costume, and with children who have sensory issues where the slightest hint of itchiness drives them insane, we find it much better knowing they’ll be comfortable in what they’re wearing. Once the girls were changed, they were taken over to the castle for their makeover.

Because the girls both like to have their makeovers done at the same time whilst sitting near each other it is a slightly longer wait, but it’s worth it. The girls had the best time chatting away with their Fairy Godmothers in Training, who really do make this experience for them. They even had an extra surprise for them at the end of the makeover where they presented them with a lovely gift; a necklace containing pixie dust so they can always have some with them wherever they are. It really was the sweetest thought and it made the girls;’ day. We really are so lucky to have the loveliest Disney friends.

Our Tron time had been called but we decided that we’d rather watch Festival of Fantasy, so after another stop at Sir Mickeys where the lovely Photopass photographer (who’d been a Disney photographer for 25 years) spent ages with the girls (and even forced Steve and I into some pictures!) we headed to find some shade for the 12pm parade.

We really didn’t want to be on Main Street as it was so busy today, so we headed towards Frontierland and found one of the few shaded areas there (you can usually get a front row spot there very close to parade time, but for a shaded spot we aim for 30 minutes before the parade). Steve fetched the girls a Cheshire Cat Tail while they were waiting which they demolished!

We loved the parade as always. Wendy came over for a chat again, Sleepy ran off to get Alice to bring her over to the girls and Donald and Daisy came across pretending to be bunnies, which the girls thought was hilarious.

We planned to go and visit the Easter Bunnies after the parade, but they were not meeting until 1.30, so we decided to escape the crowds and head to the Polynesian for some lunch. Getting out of the park was tricky as it was so busy, but we managed it with Winnie’s skilled weaving technique and caught the Polynesian boat.

As we’d missed our Tron time (they told us earlier they wouldn’t let us ride late even with an appointment at the boutique) we cancelled it and tried for another virtual spot at 1pm, which was while we were on the boat. We got a spot, but it was a late one, and we knew we wouldn’t be in the park by then so immediately cancelled. We decided to try Kona Cafe for lunch and joined the walk-up queue as we got off the boat. We were called straight away and had a lovely meal. The food was really good and different to a lot of the food on offer in the parks. We even managed to squeeze in O’hana pudding!Suitably full we got on the monorail and headed back to try meet the bunnies again, but as we got there, they’d just closed the queue for 45 minutes, so we decided to stay in the area to avoid getting trapped by the 3pm parade and went to the Tiki Room. Steve managed another quick nap, and we all cooled down for a bit.

We then navigated the crazy crowds back to Mr & Mrs Bunny and finally got our meet.We realised we hadn’t actually ridden anything all day, but we’d still had a lovely time and as it was incredibly hot, decided to call it a day and head back for a bit of time in the pool.

We did plan on heading back out for tea, but we were shattered and still full from lunch, so it turned into a chicken tenders in bed watching Bluey kind of night, while we got a few bits ready for a few days at Universal.
