I knew today could be a tough one with it being out last full day. The girls love the Polynesian and the pool area, so they wanted to spend some time there, but they also wanted to make the most of their last full day in the magic. Originally, we’d decided to get up and try and get the remaining 50th statues in MK, HS, and AK, but when I woke the girls, they said they would like to stay in bed a bit then have some pool time before deciding what to do.

I packed a few bits before we headed to the quiet pool. After an hour and a half Polly came to tell me that Winnie really wanted to watch Festival of Fantasy but didn’t want to ruin anyones pool time, so she was going to pretend she wanted to get out so we could get to the park in time. This was slightly ambitious as it was already 11am and the parade started any 12 and we were soaking wet and, in our swimwear, but somehow, we managed to get to the room, changed and into the park for 12. We decided to stay by the train station as it was fairly quiet and, in the shade, (although the humidity was a killer) The parade was lovely and the characters were a lot of fun, especially Flynn who got Winnie to show him her smoulder!

We had no set plan for the day as we’d done pretty much everything we wanted to, so played it by ear which are ways makes for the nicest, more relaxing days. We ended up meeting Rapunzel and Tiana, watching the castle show, riding Jungle Cruise and Pirates and doing the girls’ favourite, Carousel of Progress before an almighty storm hit. We actually only just got off Carousel as it stopped moving due to the storm. After waiting for about 10 minutes Winnie was getting into a bit of a state, so we decided to make a run for it. The water was so deep and the storm incredibly loud, but we made it to the ferry terminal and managed to get on the boat that was pulling in. The lightning was so close to us as we docked that Winnie got really upset, so we headed back to the room as fast as possible, grateful for the fact that our DVC building was the closest.

We had California Grill booked for tea, but Winnie didn’t want to go out again in the storm, and none of us were too bothered so we ended up modifying and cancelling and agreed to grab something later if the weather cleared. Steve got the hairdryer out in an attempt to dry the shoes so they could be packed, and I sorted the rest of the cases. After an hour or so it dried up a bit, so we headed to Trader Sam’s Terrace for some food and drinks. It’s lovely here, and we had a nice time playing Disney ‘Who Am I?’

We did hope to stay up for fireworks, but the girls were really flagging, so headed to the room instead to recommence operation clothes dry. The girls got into their nighties (adult t shirts they tie dyed at Port Orleans) and got into bed.

Just before 9 Polly came to life and declared she’d like to watch the fireworks. A quick panic to find dry shoes and we rushed to the beach just in time to see them. The girls hugged each other the whole time and it was the perfect end to the day. I love the fireworks inside the park, but this was perfect for us tonight. We are strongly Team Happily Ever After as it’s the first fireworks we saw together as a family, but the lyrics in Enchantment seemed so appropriate tonight to two little girls who are doubting themselves before starting new schools next week (especially Polly who’s finding the idea of secondary school so hard). I hope it helped them to realise that they can do anything if they believe in themselves because they really are the magic. A quick dance on the beach later and everyone was tucked up fast asleep in bed ready for home tomorrow. I know everything good has to come to an end, but we really aren’t ready to say goodbye.
