Today we had planned a bit of a park hop, in an attempt for the girls to collect all the statue on their Magic+ bands on the Play Disney apps (one connected to my phone, and one connected to Steve’s). We decided on a quick swim in the quiet pool first (love the fact that it opens at 7am). After we’d been there a while, I heard a voice saying, ‘I recognise that face’ and the lovely Clare from the group, who I’ve chatted to a fair bit on instagram, was there with her husband and two girls. Well, the girls ended up having the loveliest time playing together and we had a great real-life chat. I think we’d have been there all day had a storm not shut the pool and made us have to come up with a new plan.

We headed to the room and decided to go to Magic Kingdom and hopefully try for the fireworks again, weather permitting. The sky looked very ominous, so we got ready at breakneck speed and hurried to the TTC to avoid the rain that looked to be on the way. Our building at the Polynesian is only about a 2-minute walk from the TTC, so we’ve used that over the resort monorail most times.

We got into the park just as the flag retreat ceremony was starting. The girls absolutely love this (even though they get worried that they can’t join in with the songs when told to do so as they don’t know the words). The sky was still grey, and it was almost cool, which was bliss, but no sign of rain. We headed up Main Street and the girls got the zoom magic shot before we headed to Tomorrowland Speedway. The girls have always struggled to reach the pedal and steer and needed to pair with us. However, they decided they wanted to go together this trip, and so they went to the car in front. As I was getting in the people behind hit the accelerator and rear-ended our car which caused me to bang my knee and back quite hard. I decided I didn’t want to ride as I thought it would hurt me more, so got out. I didn’t want the girls to worry so told Steve to go ahead, but the cast members were rushing around trying to sort out what had happened, and he ended up getting out too to give them information (even though I was fine and had told them that!) I was panicking that the girls would be worried nobody was behind them, but it turns out they just thought they were super fast and had beaten us by miles!!

After Speedway the girls wanted to do Teacups. I decided to sit out of riding as I was aching a bit, but I hate spinning anyway, so it was a good excuse.Polly had been asking for a Binx Cat Tail, so we went to get one. Steve asked the girls if they’d like to try the dessert party again, and they said they would, so he went to try and rebook using the refund we had from our cancelled night. The Binx Cat Tail turned out to be a Binx Cat Paw, but Polly enjoyed it so much she saved half of it round her mouth for later!! Winnie decided she’d rather have a frozen Coca Cola, so we got one of those for her.

Steve was still at Tomorrowland Terrace, so he texts to tell us to go on People Mover without him. We love it so much, but I always end up going backwards and get so disoriented as to where I am in the park! While we were on, he text to say we could go to the dessert party, which the girls were really excited about. When we got off, we went straight to the party where Winnie once again ate her body weight in chocolate strawberries. Polly started feeling a bit sad about going home, and the thought of starting secondary school, so we had some big cuddles (and a whole lot of sugar) before heading to the plaza gardens.

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect, and after Polly and Steve had been to the confectionary for a Lilly I’d promised Polly all holiday, we sat and played games until the fireworks began. We had a fabulous view of the projections, including the new opening, and absolutely loved the show. And when Tink flew over us it felt like pure magic.

We decided to stay in the park a while to let the crowd ease, so headed to Mine Train which the girls got to ride at the front of, much to their delight, and then People Mover again, because Steve missed out and the girls are sticklers for fairness. They love coming out of the Space Mountain bit looking scared to try and frighten those going in!

We did consider another ride, but were all flagging so decided to head back. We opted for the boat to the GF and Poly and as we got on the water pageant was going past so we got the perfect view of that during our ride back. It really was the most perfect end to an absolutely magical day. I don’t know what we’re going to do on our last full day tomorrow, but I honestly don’t see how we’ll top this one.
