We’d decided to let the girls lie in today, but they woke around 8.30 anyway, so had a lazy start watching the new episode of High School Musical: The Musical (The Series) before getting ready for the pool. After a few hours the pool closed for a storm that never actually arrived, so we decided to head to Animal Kingdom earlier than planned. We only had a few things we hadn’t done (Nemo was one but again cancelled today) and we wanted to go to Nomad Lounge, so it looked set to be a chilled-out afternoon.

We planned to snack at different places so started with a ribs and chicken combo meal from Flame Tree which Polly wanted to try before heading to Tough to Be a Bug to cool down. The man who introduced the show and gave the safety information was amazingly enthusiastic and made everyone smile. I wish I’d been closer to see his name as he really deserved a cast compliment. After the show we caught a few character boats before grabbing a Honey chicken and rice from Yak & Yeti quick service which we ate on the waterfront. We walked over to Africa as the safari was showing 15 minutes now (it was 75 when we arrived!) and had a nice rest on there. I always prefer a morning or evening safari, it we still got to see loads of animals.

After the safari I joined the virtual queue for Nomad, and we were called before we’d even walked there. Nomad lounge is lovely. You can sit outside on the waterfront, but we wanted the full air-conditioning so sat inside. We stayed for over an hour, snacking on sliders, pork belly and obviously churros, whilst having a few drinks. The girls didn’t ages looking through the holiday photos and reliving the memories from them, and it was just a perfect way to spend time.

It was about 5pm by this time and the park was ridiculously quiet so we headed onto Flight of Passage. I’m sure the Lightning Lane queue was bigger than the regular queue! We’d taken our sickness tablets so although the ride makes me queasy (I can’t do simulators…I even have to close my eyes on the Aladdin bit in Philarmagic) I decided to try and watch the whole thing, rather than closing my eyes halfway through. I love the ride, but I did come off rather wobbly at the end!!

The girls fancied a night swim, so we decided to head back to the hotel. We were again lucky with the buses (I know people moan about AKL buses, but we’ve never had a problem) and were back in no time. The girls went in the water and just about lasted until it got dark before heading to bed.

It’s our last full day at this hotel tomorrow so I’m not sure of our plans, other than some packing and possibly a few hours in Magic Kingdom. We shall see.
