Winnie actually slept last night, only getting up once for a wee and finally waking properly at 5.10am, which after the previous 2 nights felt like the most luxurious lie in ever!
As Polly was awake too they had a bath and watched High School Musical: The Series before getting up and ready to go to Animal Kingdom. We weren’t planning a massive day there but had a Tusker House breakfast booked, and wanted to ride Flight of Passage, so headed straight to Pandora. On the way we bumped into Jade, James and Arlo again and had another brief catch up.

After Pandora we headed to meet Mickey and Minnie as the safari was temporarily down, and we didn’t want to risk being late for breakfast. The queue wasn’t too big, and Mickey & Minnie were lovely. Mickey gestured eating to Winnie which she took to mean ‘I’ll see you in Tusker House’ and then spent the walk there trying to work out how the characters could get from one place to another/ change outfits so quickly (she decided the ‘cast members only’ doorways are secret portals).

Tusker House breakfast was good. I ate the curry and rice whilst the girls and Steve polished off the traditional breakfast platter, which they all enjoyed. The characters were a lot of fun, and the girls loved finally getting back to a character meal where they got hugs.

After the meal it was almost time for the 10am Lion king show, so we rushed to get in. As we were walking through the standby line a CM called the girls over and took us through a door and sat us right at the front, which was fabulous. I love this show, and although some elements are slightly different it was great to see. Polly loved the bird dancers and sat grinning throughout their routine. And Winnie wasn’t terrified if the fire this time!

The plan was to head for the safari but after being down for so long the queue was crazy, so we decided to leave it for another day. Winnie really wanted a frozen Coca Cola, but the machine was broken so we had to compromise with a packet of Goofy’s candy and a promise of a coke when we got back to the hotel. The nice thing about being so close to the park is that we can nip back any evening after another park to finish off the bits we missed.

We went in the pool for around an hour before it closed due to storms in the area (again!), so we went back to the room. Jade messaged me to say the characters were in the lobby, so we quickly threw on some clothes (the girls were in their pjs after taking off their wet swimsuits!) and went down. We ended up spending around an hour there chatting to Jade and James while the girls played with baby Arlo who had them wrapped around his gorgeous little finger. It was so lovely and seeing his little face when he met the characters was the cutest!

We were getting hungry so nipped the the Mara for a snack before getting ready for Moonlight Magic at Typhoon Lagoon. This was our first DVC event, and to be honest I wasn’t sure what to expect. We had thought about doing the H2O glue night though, so thought this would be a great alternative.

The event started at 8 but you could enter any time from 6, so we decided to go early as knew the girls (and us!!) wouldn’t last all night. We haven’t been to Typhoon Lagoon for years (other than for Steve’s surf lesson) so were worried we’d struggle to navigate, but as we entered a lovely CM talked to the girls and suggested where to go at what time.

As we have water park tickets included with our regular passes, we decided to mainly focus on the unique party bits once they started, but the girls queued for the Crush n’ Gusher on their own (a huge thing for them as they aren’t the most confident) before we grabbed a bite to eat and hit the wave pool just as the sun was setting.

At 8pm the characters appeared to open the dance party. Mickey, Minnie & Goofy were there in their beach clothes and danced amongst everyone, while Lilo and Stitch had a traditional meet and greet line (we didn’t queue as the line was long and the girls weren’t bothered).

The dance party was lots of fun. There were hula hoop competitions (there was only one hoop left by the time the girls had let everyone else go in front of them, so they held hands and twirled it between them on their joined arm!) and games.

We’d planned to go on a slide in the dark, but at 9pm exhaustion hit the girls right in the face. We knew it was coming after so little sleep over the past 3 nights and were more than happy to leave as we’d had a great time anyway, so the girls got changed into their pyjamas, had a little play with the smoke bubbles, and we left.

Polly apologised for not wanting a free ice cream, which sums her up, and we were back at the hotel with the girls asleep by 9.30pm.
It was a lovely day, but I think we need to slow down tomorrow as we’ve all hit that Disney wall. Good job we have a nice, leisurely Topolino’s breakfast booked.
