A Little Piece of Disney Magic (Our Disney Magic at Sea Cruise) Day 3: Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo, Fun in the Sun, Disney Dreams & Lumiere’s

Today the girls were booked into Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. We debated whether to actually go ahead with the booking for the longest time. They have been lucky enough to visit the boutique at Disney World numerous times (Winnie even has a special fairy godmother who she shares a birthday with) and the thought of it being a watered-down experience was putting us off slightly. Also, the children must wear a mask throughout, and whilst that wasn’t an issue for the girls who tend to wear masks when out and about in busy places anyway, we were still worried it would impact the magic. However, we always say that it’s better to regret doing something rather than regretting not doing it, so we kept it.

Whilst I got the girls dressed (they had designed the dresses themselves after Winnie realised that all the shop bought Disney ones were just too itchy for her, so we decided it was easier to wear them to go in rather than getting changed there) Steve went to the concierge lounge to pick up some pastries (and of course a coffee for himself!)

Our appointments were 9am and 9.15am but they let the girls in at the same time. They were the only two in at that time so got aa lot of fuss and attention. I’d read in advance that some makeovers were over very quickly, but ours lasted around 40 minutes, and that was without having to choose a dress/ get changed so I definitely didn’t feel short changed. We chose the cheapest package which was $99 and included a t-shirt which Winnie loved as its very blingy! The girls each had 3 different fairy godmothers in training throughout their makeovers, and they were all so lovely. Polly’s even gave her make up advice as they aren’t allowed to put make up on right now, but still give you the little palate and face gems to apply yourself. We went straight into the bathroom near Fathoms to apply it to finish off the experience.

The princesses were meeting in the atrium, and these were the biggest queues we’d seen all trip, probably because they spent so long chatting with each person. We met Rapunzel and Belle, and as Cinderella wasn’t due to appear at this point the girls decided that was enough. We did then walk past the theatre where Pluto was meeting though, so they jumped in there, because who can say no to Pluto?!

We then headed to the concierge lounge as the team there had asked to see them, before heading to kids’ club one more time. The girls had actually decided not to go to any more sessions after the first one, but after another card from the team telling them they really hoped they’d see them on the last day they decided to go for an hour. They obviously wanted to keep their princess dresses on which was a bit of a worry as I knew it was a slime making session, but I knew I could always wash them once we got home so I wasn’t sweating too much!

Whilst the girls were at kids’ club, Steve and I headed onto the pool deck for a bit of sunshine. Aside from embarkment day we had pretty much solid sunshine the whole time, which was wonderful. What wasn’t quite so wonderful was the fact that you could never find anywhere to sit. So many people were reserving beds and then disappearing for hours. Still, we managed to find a table and chairs at the back of the ship which was perfect. Before we knew it, an hour had passed, and it was time to collect the girls (the sessions are longer than an hour but that’s all they wanted to stay).

We decided to try lunch at Cabanas. The girls had their standard beige combo of mac cheese and chicken tenders, and Steve and I opted for a curry with naan bread.

The concierge team had mentioned a nice photograph opportunity at Rapunzel’s restaurant, so we headed straight there after lunch. It was the only other photo we ended up buying!

After that it was time to head to the Dreams show. We decided to go very early as, with it being a matinee, we knew it would fill quickly as it was a better option for those with small children than the later showing. The girls occupied themselves with puzzle books until the show started. And what a show! The absolute highlight of the trip for sure. It was full on Disney magic from start to finish. So many characters and songs. Elsa was so full of sass and really stood out as being amazing, and when the Circle of Life started, I thought I might lose it. The girls were absolutely overjoyed and clapping so hard. I honestly thought my heart was going to burst. If I could bottle that feeling and hand it out to all of you missing Disney right now I would.

After the show we decided to have our last few hours by the pool before tea. Steve headed to find us a spot and I took the girls to the room to get them out of their princess dresses and into their swimsuits before tackling the gel-ridden hair! They then had the best time playing in the water. We left it as late as possible to go in and get changed for tea (meaning I once again failed to get my hair washed, but with it being such a short break I made the decision that having fun together was much more important than spending hours glamming up.)

Our final meal was Lumiere’s, and although it was nice enough it was the least exciting meal (although I would say the food was probably the best of the three) which was a bit of an anti-climax after the magic of the show. We decided that we wanted to try and fit one more activity in before bedtime, so the girls chose the Mouseketeer game show. We had to move fast to get there but luckily it was very close to the restaurant.  This was another highlight for the girls. It’s a bit like ‘Who wants to be a millionaire’ but with only 5 questions which all have a Disney theme. The girls’ ticket number didn’t get called but a lovely lady in front of us said they could have hers. The other children had all gone up with adults to help, but our two decided to go together. They loved it and ended up winning a medal. Polly kept her hand on Winnie’s back, and Winnie crossed her fingers after giving every answer. Afterwards she said she was shaking like a chihuahua!

It was then time to say goodbye to the team in the concierge lounge before heading back to the room. The girls asked to watch Dreams on the stateroom TV which resulted in Winnie sobbing because she didn’t want to leave. I think it was a mixture of tiredness and sadness, but it took a good while to calm her down, bless her little heart.

While the girls slept, we finished the last bit of packing. I usually pack really carefully, putting things in the cases in such a way that they’ll be easy to unpack. However, as we wanted to make the most of our time on the ship, I decided to take the ‘throw it in a case and sort it at home’ approach, so it didn’t take long at all.

The following morning was our final breakfast at Lumiere’s before saying goodbye to our first cruise. We took our cases with us, so we literally just walked off the ship and across ti the car when they started letting people off, which was really easy.

We really did have a truly magical time aboard The Magic. I don’t think we’ll ever be cruise converts as the parks will always have our hearts, but I can definitely see combination trips in our future. We are so incredibly grateful that we got to experience this small piece of Disney Magic and that our hearts are full of the magical memories we were able to make.
