Day 9: Christmas in July Cruising!

Today, as suspected, the girls decided it was Christmas onboard the ship. Luckily they wanted to make their own Christmas movie first with no mummy intervention, but as the film is still in post production (possibly as a result of them filming numerous scenes upside down!!) I can’t share that yet.
Next they decided the ship needed decorating for the festive season (day!) so the design team (aka mummy) got to work gathering decorations from the loft and creating Christmas joy (amidst a lot of grumbling, sweating and non-Disney mutterings as a result of the repeated journeys up and down the loft ladder).

Next was Christmas baking, and today’s treat was festive Mickey Krispie Treats, because they couldn’t choose something simple and mess-free now could they? Buttered up to greased-pig status they got to work mixing up the gooiest of mixtures whilst simultaneously carpeting the kitchen floor with Rice Krispies!

If you’d like the recipe (well, of sorts…I kind of wing it!) here’s what we did:

  • Put 2 packs of marshmallows in a large microwave-safe bowl and melt on high heat, checking and stirring every 10 seconds or so.
  • Once melted add Rice Krispies a few at a time stirring thoroughly. Once the Krispies become hard to coat you’ve got enough in there.
  • Cover your hands in butter and squeeze the mixture into a buttered Mickey mould, squeezing it hard to fill in all gaps.
  • Carefully remove the mould and leave to set.
  • Melt chocolate and dip the top of the treat in before adding sprinkles.
  • Leave in the fridge to set.

Whilst the treats were setting the girls decided to put on their festive finest and watch a Christmas movie, so I took the opportunity to take a few photos because you can never be too organised for Christmas can you?

They finally got round to decorating their snacks at tea time, before Winnie devoured most of them!! I’m amazed she had room for anything else today after her 6 Weetabix breakfast!

Early nights all round as the girls didn’t sleep well last night so we are all suffering a bit today. I did suggest a Christmas movie to Steve but I don’t think he’s having any of it!!
Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas in July everyone! 🎄❤️
