Ok, so you may be wondering how I can write a blog when I’m clearly not at Disney. Well, since the girls found out our real-life trip was cancelled Polly has been planning an at-home Disney holiday for Winnie (in their imaginary little world anything is possible). They were so excited about it and asked if I could blog so they had a memory of it, so here goes! Wish me luck!
Travel Day:
After a fun final week of home-school, travel day finally arrived. The girls were up at 7am and promptly headed to the airport (kitchen) for a bacon cob. They then boarded their first-class seats (full leather sofa with footstool…now that’s a flight I’d like to be on) at 9am and flew for 7 hours (it was a fast plane!) while Steve and I were the cabin crew, bringing them food and drinks throughout. They literally sat on the sofa doing aeroplane activities all day until 4pm!!!
When they landed they set off on the Magical Express for AKL, opted for a double room rather than a bunk-bed room at check in and explored the resort before heading to The Boathouse for tea. They finished the day with a meditation session before lying on the front room floor with the curtains closed watching the Movie Under the Stars before they head to bed with a warm cookie (snack credit) for supper.

Got to give them credit for authenticity even if they are crackers 🤣
Day 1: Animal Kingdom and Trails End

Today was a slow start after yesterday’s long travel day. The girls sent daddy to Mara for a hot chocolate in their refillable mugs (apparently there was a huge queue and then the mug chips weren’t working but he got it sorted!). They then watched a bit of Disney Channel before heading to the park, which today was Animal Kingdom (we usually opt for MK on the first day, but the reservation system was full!) As usual, daddy went ahead to Starbucks for a much-needed coffee for himself and a breakfast sandwich for the girls (along with a sneaky iced ‘chatty latty’ as a Polly calls them!

We then headed to the rides, first port of call being Flight of Passage with zero queue.

The girls then met Donald and had a play in the Boneyard before watching Festival of the Lion King.

They then went on Kilimanjaro safari before getting very wet on the rapids!

As we were already drenched we decided to head back for some pool time. Amazingly we were the only people there so had our pick of sunbeds. We didn’t stay long as we had a lunch reservation at Trails End, so got dressed and set off. We had a lovely time sitting on hay bales and listening to music whilst mummy had a sneaky gin (I think the first outing since March deserves a celebration!!) and the girls had fun exploring the resort for a few hours.

A bit of a chill in the hotel and a look at the zebra from the balcony (savannah view rocks!) before dinner at Jiko.

Tonight’s special was Chicken Parmigiana (they apparently ship in Tesco Finest ready meals when they have a 2 for £10 offer on and the chef is exhausted from multiple job roles!) followed by orange and passion fruit tart and a nice glass or three of red for daddy (god bless Tesco!)
It’s been a Disney day in the crazy world of the Pearsons! Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings (and how many outfits I have to pick up off the floor!!)
