Day 5: Locked in The Magic Kingdom and Star Wars Dessert Party

This morning the girls woke up to find they’d fallen asleep in Country Bear’s Jamboree (it happens to the best of us) and we’re locked inside the Magic Kingdom. Luckily, they could get out (although I’m not sure I’d want to!) once they solved 6 clues to unlock 6 locks. All the clues were little Disney based puzzles/ games/ questions and they had the best time solving them. Some needed a bit of help, but they mostly did it by themselves and by mid-morning they were out!

(If you’d like to have a go yourself, this is the link. I found it by chance whilst looking for activities for home-school and thought it would come in handy at some point!

The plan was then to chill out at the hotel, but they received a message from Hollywood Studios saying the Dessert Party chef was ill and the party would be cancelled (insert dramatic gasp here!) They decided they didn’t want to miss out so offered to make some desserts (and a savoury item) of their own. They spent the morning whisking and rolling and decorating to create two desserts.

The first was Stormtrooper buns, because with Winnie in town you have to have the baddie element! These were just regular chocolate cupcakes with icing and marshmallows decorated with edible pens (I did panic they were using Sharpies at one point 🤣🤣)

The second dessert was my favourite, Wookie Cookies! These were gingerbread men that they textured to look like fur before baking, then they piped a chocolate band and added white chocolate chips once they were cool.

As a savoury option we decided to try cheeseburger spring rolls, as that’s the only savoury thing I’ve ever had at a dessert party. Steve set off to hunt for the wrappers (thank you lovely local Chinese supermarket) before work so we could try them out. I winged it and fried some onion and seasoned mince until the mince was browned within an inch of its life, then added some ketchup. I then put a spoonful in a corner of the wrapper along with some cubes of cheese and bacon pieces and rolled, sealing with egg wash. They were actually really good, so much so that Steve polished off 8!

Once the food was ready the special guests arrived to meet the girls (they had no idea about this as their faces show). Its amazing how much joy a mask and coordinating t-shirt can bring to two little ladies ❤️

Obviously no Star Wars feast is complete without a glass of blue milk!

We are now off to watch the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular on Youtube before starting The Rise of Skywalker to round off another lovely day.

Tomorrow is a chill out at the resort day with a possible trip to MK for a ride of Splash Mountain as we have a Fastpass!

Enjoy your evening lovely people.
