Well, that’s it. Our last day done and dusted. We’ve got a fairly early start tomorrow as we have a connecting flight, purely because a connection meant we got upper class seats for the same price as direct economy class, which I’ll happily take running through Atlanta airport Kevin McAllister style for!
We started the day off by meeting up with my parents for the final time. We checked with the front desk the previous day if they would be able to visit, and they said it would be absolutely fine. They actually looked surprised that we’d bothered to ask so I’m guessing lots of people do it, although I do have to say that unlike others, we haven’t found the pools here to be overly busy. We had some breakfast together and a bit of a chat before getting most of our things repacked. We’d only used one case here so it shouldn’t have taken long. Except it did, mainly because I kept moving things around then moving them back again! We then headed out to the pool, which was almost empty, and stayed there until it got closed for the storm. I think I may need to get Polly some bigger goggles when we get home!

We had a California Grill reservation for 5pm as it’s our tradition to go there on the last evening. We usually hope to go into the Magic Kingdom afterwards to say goodbye to it one last time, but the girls were so tired today that we knew that was never going to happen so instead we went in just after lunch to do a few of their favourite rides and watch the parade one final time.

The Magic Kingdom Halloween decorations had gone up since our last visit. I love them so much and was quite sad that we’d be leaving before the parties started as although it was incredibly busy last year and we didn’t stay for the whole thing as the girls were too tired, we still loved it! There’s always next year!

We managed to get 7 Dwarves Mine Train and Mickey’s Philarmagic in before the parade. Steve had trotted ahead to get us a spot, but after what had been a predominantly cloudy day the sun decided to suddenly come out in full force, and whilst the parade was fabulous as always (the highlight bring Goofy coming and standing with the girls for ages trying to get Mickey’s attention!) I was literally boiling, with sweat pouring out of my pores’ pores! I think I may well have been wetter than I was on the rapids by the time it was finished. I’ve never been more grateful to get on Carousel of Progress in my whole life!

After Carousel of a Progress we hopped on People Mover before heading to The Contemporary for our California Grill tea. Polly decided she wanted to walk because it was good exercise (clearly the 100-ish miles we’ve walked this holiday wasn’t enough exercise for her!) so we said a final goodbye to the Magic Kingdom and off we went.

We arrived in perfect time for our reservation. You head to a podium on the first floor where you get escorted up to the restaurant in a lift (it’s less posh/ intimidating than it sounds!) We were seated by the window (you usually are with a 5pm reservation) and had a beautiful view of the Magic Kingdom throughout the meal, which was delicious. The girls decided that they are going to cook me and Steve a posh meal when we get home now, and they are apparently even going to put a blanket on the table to make it extra special! Can you tell we don’t use tablecloths a lot?!

We skipped dessert because a/ we are no longer on the dining plan and b/ we could grab puddings at the hotel for free and headed back. We’ve now packed everything except the bits we need in the morning and the girls are fast asleep.

So, that’s that. The end of an absolutely magical 3 weeks with the people who make me happiest. I am so lucky to be heading home with a heart full of happiness and a head full of amazing memories. I will try to do a round up once I’m home, but I think I’ve covered most details in my novel length blogs!! Thank you so much for following along on our adventures. I hope you enjoyed reading about them and that you maybe learnt a thing or two along the way.

Anyway, I’m off for one last sleep in the land of the mouse. Goodnight you wonderful people. And as the main man himself would say, see ya real soon ❤️
