Today has been a much quieter day, which was probably needed after yesterday’s fun filled antics. I woke up at 7am finally feeling more human (I no longer sound like a 90-year-old tobacco chewer not need to carry a spittoon around with me!) and everyone else slept until 8. The girls had muffins and hot chocolate in bed courtesy of Daddy D&P (and the dining plan!) before getting up for a play in the pool (in their matching swimwear!). I attempted to tidy up a bit as the room is starting to feel like it’s closing in (it’s a bit like the genie’s lamp…itty-bitty living space) and I have the girls dresses laid out everywhere in case they want to wear them twice as there’s no way I’m ironing them again. I love Disney hotels but a 12” hanging space for 4 people is never going to work!
After a swim we had a bit of lunch by the pool before Polly declared that she felt poorly. Now Polly struggles massively when she’s tired (at her 5th birthday party she declared she was going to bed at 7pm and went upstairs leaving all her guests to it!) so I guessed that was the issue. We came up to the room and told them to have a lie down and in 5 minutes both were fast asleep. They napped almost 2 hours and would likely have slept more if I hadn’t woken them (if they were relying on Steve, they’d still be asleep now! You know when the midwife tells you to sleep when your babies sleep? Well it seems Steve took that advice on board and continues to follow it to this day!)

The plan was to go to Hollywood Studios for a bit of a mooch around. After a failed attempt to brush Polly’s hair I realised that it had a consistency similar to that of the Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz, so decided on an impromptu shower/ hair wash as the only course of action. This made us later than anticipated (especially as the girls were making up a new secret handshake which involved slapping bare bum cheeks together!) but we had no firm plans other than a Slinky fast pass, so wasn’t a big problem. We arrived at the bus stop just as the Hollywood Studios bus was pulling in (win) but got on to realise someone had a serious need for a shower (big loss!) and spent the whole journey mouth breathing!! Good job it’s a short journey!

When we got to the park there were no queues again and we were straight in. We had a nice steady stroll (the girls got collared to sing a song from Frozen by a cast member holding a bubble wand as a microphone…rather odd) to Toy Story Land.

We decided to join the queue to meet Woody and Bo Peep as the girls really wanted to see Bo. Now, the queue was ridiculously long as always but this time we had the added worry that if it rained too hard the characters would have to leave. We only had a certain amount before our fast pass and the girls kept their fingers crossed through the whole (long, hot) queue. It started raining quite heavily when we were about 3 families from the front, but luck was on our side and we managed to see them before they had to go into the dry. They were on great form and really interacting with everyone. Woody played a game where he pretended he couldn’t guess who the real Bo Peep was! The girls couldn’t stop giggling!

We then went on Slinky Dog in the rain (more raindrop eye bullets!) before Toy Story Mania. We were getting hungry, but Hollywood Studios is not the best park for quick service food, so we decided to catch the boat across to Epcot to grab some fish and chips and Polly really fancied some. Now, I’m trying to be laid back whilst we are here and not sweat the small things but the 25-minute wait for a boat did test my patience slightly. Well, until Polly told me that she’s loving the little things that were doing this holiday like watching the ducks in the water while we waited. Bless her heart!

We got on the boat at 7pm and at the Yacht Club stop decided to get off and walk the rest of the way to Epcot as the boat does take a while and the girls really wanted to get back to watch Descendants 3 at 8pm! Cue some serious power walking to the International Gateway entrance. The poor girls were like beetroots! We got some fish and chips and sat listening to a band play English hits while we ate it (well, scoffed it as fast as we could manage!)

We then left Epcot (passing a family of older teens wearing t-shirts with ‘Childless Millennials’ on them, and their dad with ‘Here to keep check on the Childless Millennials’ on his…made me giggle!) We walked to Ample Hills creamery for an ice cream (they have an amazing assortment of flavours and it’s a great use of a snack credit)) before heading back via Lyft to arrive at the hotel room at 8pm sharp!

It was supposed to be an easy day but turned into quite an eventful evening. Even so, the shorter day will hopefully mean a Polly’s feet don’t smell of tuna tonight, which they apparently did yesterday! Not surprising really when you consider we’ve walked over 50 miles already, and that’s taking it steady!
Another unplanned morning tomorrow so we shall see what the day brings! Until then x
